As Global Head of AI Advocacy at GE HealthCare, Jan Beger is dedicated to transforming AI’s role in healthcare—from a perceived threat to a powerful, transformative opportunity.
Jan simplifies complex AI and machine learning concepts, making these technologies accessible and understandable for everyone. He leads HelloAI, a strategic initiative supported by EIT Health, which enhances AI literacy among medical and healthcare IT professionals, clinicians, researchers, and students. The program offers a flexible, self-paced e-learning format enriched by live online events, and to date, approximately 2,900 participants from over 70 countries have completed it.
With over 19 years of experience in healthcare informatics, medical imaging, and Artificial Intelligence, Jan is committed to transforming the industry through education and advocacy. He promotes AI literacy as a key driver in adopting AI-enabled technologies across the healthcare sector. By leveraging AI to streamline routine tasks, Jan aims to enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and enable providers to dedicate more time to the human touch and building meaningful patient relationships.
Previously, Jan founded Edison Accelerator, a start-up acceleration and healthcare provider collaboration program in Europe, designed by GE HealthCare in partnership with Wayra UK, Telefónica’s Open Innovation Hub. The mission of Edison Accelerator was to build an ecosystem of healthcare providers, industry players, and start-ups to develop, integrate, and commercialize AI-enabled digital solutions, driving the digital transformation of healthcare.
In addition to his role at GE HealthCare, Jan founded GR4AI.Academy, a non-profit organization focused on educating young people about the societal implications of AI. The academy aims to raise awareness among the youth about the pros and cons of AI technology, fostering a balanced understanding of its potential impact.
