The European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) is a €1.5 billion EU-wide initiative designed to strengthen and modernise Europe's defence industry, ramp up production capacity and ensure a steady supply of cutting-edge military equipment to the armed forces of Member States.
As part of this programme, two dedicated calls are open to industry across Member States and Norway, offering significant funding opportunities for companies seeking to increase their manufacturing capacities in key defence areas.
Luxinnovation is organising an information session to help Luxembourg-based companies understand the programme, the call requirements and how to position their projects for success.
What is EDIP?
EDIP supports legal entities looking to scale up production in three strategic areas:
- Energetic components
- Key electronic components
- Defence platforms and end-products
Successful applicants may receive lump sum grants covering up to 35% of eligible project costs, and up to 50% if conditions for an increased funding rate are met.
One call, two topics:
Submission deadline: 16 February 2027
Key electronic components - Budget: €122.25 million
This topic covers guidance electronics, propulsion electronics, RF and laser modules, multispectral cameras, avionics, PCBs and IC substrates, lithium-ion polymer batteries, power electronics and critical semiconductor building blocks.
Platforms and end-products - Budget: €152.75 million
This topic addresses forging and machining, key sub-systems, composite materials, assembly and integration of end products, Manufacturing as a Service and dual-use heavy industry conversion options for defence surge.
