Luxembourg AI Industry Matchmaking

Bring Your AI.
Add the Earth.

Help shape a new European data and computing environment for AI

16 September 2026  |  Luxembourg

About the event

What could your AI do with a new source of information about the physical world?

Satellite data describe land, water, vegetation, atmosphere, ice, infrastructure and environmental change. They can add physical-world context to models in many sectors. Today, however, the data are large, complex and often need specialist preparation.

European industry under the leadership of ESA is working to change this.

From satellite products to data made for AI

EO HyperSphere is developing a common foundation for AI-ready Earth data. The initial foundation is mainly based on Copernicus data and is designed to support scalable, reusable and reproducible AI work.

AI-ready Copernicus datasets for model development.

Reusable training resources and controlled benchmarking resources.

Common data structures, traceability and reproducible evaluation.

Conventional map-based and spherical representations for regional and global-scale AI.

HIGHWAY adds operational use. Its future evolution plans to enrich the foundation with selected ESA mission data and provide the environment to discover, access and exploit these resources across cloud and High-Performance Computing. A demonstrator involving Luxembourg's MeluXina is planned.

Who should join?

AI startups, scale-ups and technology companies working with machine learning, foundation models, predictive analytics, fintech, energy, insurance, climate, mobility, industrial optimisation, digital twins, data platforms or decision-support systems.

No Earth Observation expertise is required. Bring an AI perspective, a use case, a model, a business problem or a question.

It is not only for 'Earth Observation AI'

Earth data can complement operational, sensor, business or financial data. You do not need to build a satellite-image model.

A new source of information about the physical world becomes much easier to use in AI.

Bring real AI requirements into the design

The future environment is intended to reduce the gap between finding data and using it in a real AI workflow. Participating companies can test the complete journey and show what industry needs at each step.

Your role: stakeholder, user and validator

AI companies are invited to provide requirements while the data, interfaces and services are being shaped. Your feedback can address data format, metadata, dataset selection, training usability, benchmark design, reproducibility, cloud-HPC access and the simplicity of the end-to-end experience.

Bring an existing model, a business problem, a dataset you already use, an application you want to improve, or simply an idea. The key question is whether Earth information can improve what your AI already does - or enable something new.

Why participate?

Shape what is being built. Influence how data are structured, selected, accessed and delivered for real industrial workflows.

Improve training and testing resources. Explain what makes a prepared training dataset useful and what is needed to compare models fairly and reproducibly.

Get early experience. Explore emerging AI-ready Copernicus resources and the planned ESA mission data enrichment before wider operational use.

Experiment on realistic infrastructure. Selected beta users are expected to access the integrated environment and receive computing capacity for model experiments, subject to the beta-testing arrangements.

Find new business opportunities. Use early knowledge to identify products, services, partnerships and applications that the infrastructure teams may not have considered.
