The EDF Information Day, organised by Luxinnovation in collaboration with the Directorate of Defence, aims to equip Luxembourg industrial and research stakeholders with strategic insights that will position them to fully leverage opportunities available through the European Defence Fund.
The European Defence Fund is the Commission's instrument for R&D in defence and has a budget of nearly €8 billion to support projects in critical domains between 2021 to 2027. To enable Luxembourg stakeholders producing military or dual-use technologies and solutions to effectively capitalise on the opportunities offered under the EDF, this Information Day will discuss important aspects of the EDF to position future applicants for success.
The 2025 calls for proposals will open in January. This edition will specifically cover application fundamentals (eligibility criteria, required templates, consortium participation, open calls and deadlines, co-financing requirements and so on) to assist interested companies in determining their eligibility for funding. Officials from the Luxembourg Directorate of Defence participate each year, making it easier for prospective applicants to obtain information directly from the source and better align their project’s scope.
Experts will discuss, among others, national military priorities, examples of EDF projects, best practices and success figures from previous years, and the key requirements to apply for co-financing from the Luxembourg government as part of the EDF application process. Part of the event will also be dedicated to networking and B2B matchmaking in order to encourage joint applications involving multiple Luxembourg stakeholders, including SMEs.
The EDF is focused on developing the defence capabilities of tomorrow and supports a wide range of defence-related projects in strategic domains. Luxinnovation encourages all Luxembourg stakeholders interested in contributing to Europe's and NATO's defence value chains in an increasingly complex global defence and security environment to participate.
