About the
EU Innovation Fund

Launched in 2020 with an estimated budget of €40 billion, the EU Innovation Fund supports breakthrough technologies that drive Europe’s transition towards climate neutrality. Funded through revenues from the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), the programme targets industries and technologies with the highest potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Innovation Fund focuses on:
  •  Energy-intensive industries
  •  Renewable energy solutions
  •  Energy storage
  •  Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS)
  •  Clean mobility
  •  Net-zero emission buildings

It supports major projects with a minimum CAPEX of €2.5 million, helping innovators deploy or scale up technologies with strong decarbonisation impact.

The next call and auction will open on 3 December 2025, with around €5 billion available. This Infoday will provide everything you need to prepare for your application.
