Col HOFFMANN is since October 2020 the National Armament Director and Chief of the Department Armament, Acquisition, Investment, and Innovation at the Directorate of Defence. His role is to manage and coordinate the different departments (Air, Cyber, Space, Infrastructure, Medical, R&D) within the Directorate of Defense and to oversee the defense procurement and cooperation in the armaments field considering the political and economic guidance and priorities. Furthermore, he coordinates closely with the acquisition department of the armed forces. He is also tasked with identifying collaborative opportunities for research and development, and prospects for Luxembourg’s industry to evolve in the domain of Defense.
He has previously held the position as Head of the Luxembourg Air Component at the Luxembourg Army Headquarters
Col HOFFMANN, detached to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, served from 2011 to 2015 as Deputy Military Adviser to the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the United Nations in New York during Luxembourg’s membership in the Unity Nations Security Council as non-permanent member.
From 2005 to 2009, he held the post of Chief of Human Resources at the Military Center. In 2009, he took over the post of Chief of the Education and assistant to the Operation Officer (G3).
From 1995 to 2005, he successively held different positions as Platoon Commander and Company Commander at the Military Center in Diekirch (LU) and as Head of the Inspection, Verification and Observation Group in charge of the implementation of the different Arms Control and Confidence and Security Building Measures (CSBM) Treaties at the Luxembourg Army Headquarters.
Colonel Guy HOFFMANN graduated in 1994 with a Master degree in Social and Military sciences from the Royal Military Academy in Brussels (BEL). He attended the “Ecole d’Application d’Infantrie” in Montpellier (FR) (1997) and the Staff School in Compiègne (FR) (2002).
In 2011 attending the Superior Staff Course, he obtained a Master after Master degree in Political and Military Arts & Sciences at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels (BE).
Col HOFFMANN participated in two peacekeeping missions in 1999 to Bosnia and Herzegovina and in 2007 to Lebanon.
Col HOFFMANN is married and has two children.
